When you finish WordPress 3.1 installation or upgrade first thing that you will notice is that there is no excerpt field below textarea in post or page. What went wrong, you probably asking yourself.
Creators of WordPress are disabled this option because there are a lot of users with basic knowledge and to make thing easier for them they disabled this option. Of course if you are “power” user of WordPress you can enable this. Let me show you how to do this in few easy steps:
1. Login into administration
2. Go to posts or pages
3. Click on any of posts or pages to enter
4. Go to “Screen Options”
5. Check all boxes that you want to enable
6. Close “Screen Options”
And that’s it.
